How to spot a pebbled creek at Peabble Creek in Perth?
Posted by pebblesource on Monday, November 01, 2017 at 08:38:00A pebbler in Perth’s pebbling definition park has created an awesome new map of the region’s pebbling creek beds and their current condition.
The park is located in the Perth Hills at the edge of Perth’s northern boundary with the surrounding countryside, and is one of the few places in the world where the pebblers live.
For the past three years, the park has been mapping pebblings and monitoring their health, and the map was recently released in partnership with the state’s Department of Water Resources and Environment.
Peabblers are a large family of birds with long, sharp, pointed beaks, and have a wide range of colour and pattern in their plumage.
Their diet is primarily insects and plants, and it’s believed they are the only bird that can survive the harsh winter conditions at the bottom of the pebbler.
